Appeals

At Thames we are currently running a Directors Forum for those who are new to directing.

Next week, Appeals is on the agenda and in my twelve years as a bridge player in Thames I don't think there has ever been an appeal!

I'm sure if a player appealed we would gather some sort of Appeals Committee, hear the appeal and make a ruling.

However its occurred to me that it would be good for our club to have a policy in place and I wonder what other clubs do or what you would suggest?

Any suggestions or guidelines here would be very welcome.

A few years ago we decided to produce our own appeals procedure for club games.  We based it on the notes and forms in the NZ Bridge manual, part of the process is to indicate the composition of an appeals committee.  We had never had an appeal in my time at the club until soon after the procedure was produced.  It worked very well as it provided a good framework within which the appeal was handled.  It all seemed rather formal for a club session but it enabled the appeal to be handled objectively.

    Hi Jena,

A handbook of how to appeal  directors ruling would be a great tool to have. I have not seen one at my club in Whangarei.

I am still stuggling to find theForum where I might address a double revoke ruling.
