8B Tournament Scoring

We ran a 8B Pic Nic Tournament in two sessions and two sections in each session. After a last minute table numbers change we played a 9 table Mitchell 9x3 in one section and an eight table Howell 13x2 in the other section. The tournament Programme (Compass) would not compute. What options do we have for scoring within NZB guidelines.

    Hi Reeve

The problem is you have to play the same number of boards in each section (if you score across the field which you should).

A 17-table Web movement will do this.

    A 9-table Howell and an 8-table Howell will work.  Or a 7-Table Howell and a 10-table Howell.

I guess you could do a 7-table Howell and a 10-table Appendix Mitchell.   26 boards.

Or try a 6-table Howell and an 11-table Mitchell, 22 boards.   Swap the EW Mitchell pairs with the Howell pairs (-1) for the afternoon.

    Not so nice -

    A 17-table wombat with 8 feedins.

Two 9-table Mitchells with a phantom in each section.  frown

    cheers, Giles

Could you arrange that one so that in one of the two Mitchell sections, NS move and EW sit and then on each round rather than sit out as phantoms, the 'spare' pairs from each section play each other for that round.

Patrick runs that at Auckland for some tounraments.

Nothing wrong with a 17 table Web.

Another option could be 9 table Mitchell and 8 table Hesitation Mitchell.

Session 2 Moving pairs in M to a moving table in HM

Stat pairs in both sections stay

In M get even numbers to switch, in HM odd numbers

    Cheers

    Ed
