Bring on the National Congress

For our National Bridge Congress

We WILL have a National Congress in February 2022.

That’s the important message for all our Congress attendees, potential Congress attendees and even some of you who may not have thought of going to the delayed 2021 National Congress.

Remember, we have a great new venue at Bay Park just waiting to be filled with the buzz of bridge talk in the corridors, in the café, in the toilets, everywhere. Where else would bridge players want to be, soaking up the three “s”: a bit of success, a lot of socialising and plenty of sunshine?

We have the wonderful Bay area for you to explore in those non-bridge moments, whether it’s the beaches, a walk up Mt Maunganui

(it’s easier on the way down!), or some shopping, café and restaurant visiting, maybe a drop of wine tasting.

All we have to do is to keep Tauranga “out of the red”.

If Tauranga can stay “orange” or move to “green”, then our National Congress will be happening. You will need a Vaccination Passport (that is be “double vacced”) to play. Our hosts, Bay Park, insist on that… but with the numbers attending, that is a government requirement any way.

We will work with Bay Park to produce a sensible practical but safe approach to face coverings. They are not compulsory under Orange though recommended to be worn in public areas. The playing rooms are not deemed as public areas.

We also cannot run the National Congress if any major Bridge playing area is still in lock-down. This seems unlikely but a decision will be made by government on January 17th.

We need to check on the situation after the review of the traffic light system on January 17th but it looks hugely promising that we will kicking off with Congress on February 10th at Bay Park with New Zealand Open and Restricted Open Teams. Click here for all the events… we will find you a partner or teammates if you need them. Contact me here.

Open, Restricted Open, Intermediate, Junior, even Novice… there’s events for everyone. There will be some Bridge seminars from some of our top bridge teachers… and there’s more surprises to come.

Free accommodation, too… oh, a couple of strings attached but see this special offer…

And say Tauranga’s red? We will find some events for you to play on-line in that case. Don’t worry. That will not happen. We are positive. Get organising. Get your bridge mates organised…. And come to the National Bridge Congress 10th-17th February 2022.

You just cannot “bay” away, can you!
