Bulletin- Selection of NZ TEams & Trialists for 2019

 

 

The selectors are pleased to announce their decisions in respect of the International events for 2019. Firstly I would like to acknowledge all applications. Some of you will be disappointed that you are not included in the teams or the trials but we would encourage you to try again next year.

 

OPEN

There will be a 96 board match between the following:

 

GeO Tislevoll, Michael Ware, Matt Brown and Michael Whibley.

                                                V

Martin Reid, Peter Newell, Ashley Bach and Michael Cornell.

 

The winners of this match will represent NZ at the World Championships, and the third pair will be selected after consultation with the winning team. The Selectors will then announce the team for the APBF.

 

WOMEN

The teams will be:

SENIOR

The team for both events will be:

MIXED

There are four teams selected to play a round robin comprising of three, 32 board matches.

 

  • Kate Davies, John Patterson, Jane Lennon and Alan Grant.
  • Jo Simpson, Sam Simpson, Liz Fisher and Blair Fisher
  • Annette Henry, Stephen Henry, Anne Somerville and Moss Wylie
  • Jenny Millington, Barry Jones, Julie Atkinson and Patrick Carter.

 

The winning team will represent NZ at the World Championships, and the third pair will be selected after consultation with the winning team. The third pair will not necessarily come from the team that finishes runner up in the round robin. The Selectors will then announce the team for the APBF.

The trials will be held at the Orewa bridge club on the weekend of the 10th and 11th November. The Orewa bridge club is 25 minutes north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. There will be 48 boards each day (behind screens) starting at 10.00am and finishing around 6.00pm. Each 16 board segment will have a time limit of 2 hours and 20 minutes which is the same time allowance as at World Championships.

Reserve pairs for all categories will be announced after the trials on the 10th/11th November. The NPC’s for teams other than the Women will be announced at a later date.
