National Bridge Congress update
Time to plan and even start the booking process.
Saturday September 30th – Saturday October 7th 2017
(NZ Youth Teams – Friday September 29th)
“It’s only May” you may say…. but soon winter will be over and the National Congress will suddenly be here.
So, time to start the planning and maybe even registering for the Congress and entering all or some of the events in which you want to play. If you are planning on entering the New Zealand Open Pairs or The New Zealand Restricted Open Pairs, you must enter in advance. For all other events, you can enter in advance, preferably on-line.
If you are playing either of the above events along with The New Zealand Teams, you are best to register for the full Congress Package. Otherwise, register for the appropriate of :
New Zealand Open Pairs Package
New Zealand Restricted Pairs Package
New Zealand Teams Package
using the same icon above.
And remember paying for the above packages including full Congress Package is cheaper if you pay by August 31st 2017.
Special discounts too if you register for the full Congress and are coming from the South Island.
Or if you are coming for just a short time, or perhaps want to play just the Intermediate/Junior or Senior events, then register for individual events only.
Remember, there are two steps to entering and paying
- Pay by selecting your preferred option; either a package or single events. Pay here
- Enter events you are playing in, even if you have paid for a package or single event Enter here.
Need a bed? How about staying at the Distinction Hotel?
Staying at the Congress venue is a great idea. No driving…just walk to and from the playing rooms….and stay now in a recently upgraded rooms.
The hotel has six wings and four of those (200,300,400 and 500 wings) have been upgraded since last year’s Congress. The bedrooms bear no resemblance to last year’s rooms…much more comfortable.
200 and 500 wings twin bedded rooms
300 and 400 wings single king size bedded rooms
All above are $160.00 per room per night.
Or
100 and 600 wings remain as per previous years at $120.00 per night.
(some triple rooms in the 100 wing at $150 and 500 wing at $190 per night).

Remember the Congress is for all grades of player, Open, Intermediate and Junior. There is even a Novice Pairs on the first Saturday afternoon( Saturday September 30th).

Good bridge in a competitive but friendly atmosphere. Leave that outside world behind. That must be a good idea.
