Going to The Movies Again

As in early 2016, New Zealand Bridge will be “ going to the movie theatres” to try and promote our wonderful game.

We will be using the same 30 second advert to try to encourage some who may not have thought that Bridge is for them or maybe who had just not got round to learning to go to their local club and start lessons.

The approach, in February 2017, is a little different in that New Zealand Bridge will be paying for the screening of the advert in 10 main centre cinemas covering four screens per cinema over a two week period. We would love to cover more cinemas but cinema advertising comes at a considerable cost. Cities covered by this promotion are one cinema in each of : Auckland (Newmarket), Hamilton, Tauranga, Napier, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill.

In addition, we are hoping that clubs will book the advert at local cinemas for a period taking advantage of the cheaper than normal rates which New Zealand Bridge has negotiated with Screenvista cinemas.

The period of the NZ Bridge adverts is Thursday February 9th until Wednesday February 22nd. This should be before most clubs start their Beginners’ Classes for 2017, but not too far so that nice ideas get forgotten.

All clubs have been advised of this promotion and can contact me (click here) if they have any queries regarding either the New Zealand Bridge sponsored showings or showings they might like to sponsor.

In the meantime, if you would like to watch and listen to the advertisement, follow this link.

New Zealand Bridge hopes the showing of these adverts will stimulate more people to take up the game. If you are at one of the cinemas with a non- bridge playing friend or relation, make sure they are aware of the advert they have seen. That might just be the trigger they need to learn our game.
