International Programme for 2017

 27 June 2016

Bulletin 1 - International Programme for 2017

In 2017 NZ Bridge has decided to send teams to the APBF in Seoul, Korea and the World Championships in Lyon, France.

The provisional dates for the APBF are the 28th May 2017 to the 7th June 2017. The categories will be Open, Women, Senior and Youth.

The dates for the World Championships are 12th August 2017 to 26th August 2017.  The categories will be Open, Women and Senior.

As in recent years NZ Bridge will be inviting NZ registered pairs to apply to be part of a squad from which the teams will be chosen. Application forms will be available for download from the NZ Bridge website from the 26th August, and completed and signed applications must be in the hands of the NZ Bridge Secretary by 5.00pm on Wednesday 26th October.

NZ Bridge reserves the right not to send teams in any category if there have been insufficient applicants of a suitable quality.

Pairs who have been accepted as Squad members will be required to play in the South Island Teams which is being held in Nelson on the 11th and 12th       February 2017 and the North Island Teams in Auckland on the 4th and 5th  March 2017. We would also strongly recommend that applicants play in the National 15A teams in New Plymouth on the 19th and 20th November 2016.

Squad members are also reminded that regular successful play in A point and major Australian tournaments will be an important factor as far as the Selectors are concerned in determining the teams for 2017.

Successful squad applicants will be notified by Tuesday 1st November 2016. The Selectors at a later date will announce the composition of the teams for the SI and NI teams.

Unless there are unforeseen circumstances it is expected that the teams for both international events will be announced by Friday 10th March 2017.
