EXTRA PLACE IN RUBBER BRIDGE FINALS

Each year, the National Rubber Bridge finals take place at the National Congress. Each of our seven regions
is currently running a knock-out event to determine which pair will contest the final stages. With seven regions
and eight spaces available in the quarter final stage, the region with the most entries gets a second pair
to send to Hamiilton.

Once again, the Wellington Region will gain that extra place. Congratulations to that region which constantly
attracts a higher entry than other regions.

Numbers are up especially in the South Island though it would be neat to attract
even more pairs to participate in what is always a very social form of playing bridge. Matches are of 30 boards,
rubber bridge style, with the qualifying rounds usually played in players' homes.

Here are the numbers of pairs who entered the last two years' Rubber Bridge competition.
