New Zealand International Teams Announcement

The make-up of the three teams to represent New Zealand at the 2016 Olympiad

In Poland in August has just been announced. The following have been selected after the completion

last week-end of the third of the qualifying events, the North Island Teams. In each case, the first

named pair won automatic selection as being the top finishing pair in the datums over the three events. The other two pairs,

along with the reserve pairs, were chosen by the selectors.

All the above play at clubs in the Auckland area except for

Ashley Bach who lives in Australia, Jenny Wilkinson and Shirley Newton (Christchurch)

James and Sam Coutts and Chris Ackerley (Otago) and Christine and Jenna Gibbons

(Te Puke and Waikato respectively).

The new names on the list are those of Michael Whibley and Matthew Brown. Both have

represented New Zealand at Youth level. Michael returned to New Zealand last year after a

period in Australia while Matthew, who moved to Auckland just over one year ago, will be the first

Northland player to represent New Zealand.
