Loveblock New Zealand Wide Pairs – The Winners

The event took place just over a month ago. In that time, those who won prizes have been presented them at their clubs. In this article, we will celebrate these winners. Each player received a pack of two bottles of Loveblock Wine, a Pinot Gris and a Sauvignon Blanc. Let’s then salute the winners:

A Just Reward

Lynne Geursen and Grant Jarvis have played in this event every year at the Franklin Bridge Club….and this was to be their year with a cool 73.50%,  clear winners by nearly 3%. They have plenty of experience, Lynne being a Gold and Grant an Emerald Grand Master. It was lovely being able to return to my old Home Club to present their wine to them, and to the top Novices below.

John  Bowman and Anthony Julian (left) are not regular partners but combined really well to score 53% at the Franklin Bridge Club, a great effort from 2 who were in this year’s learners’ class.

Christine Holdaway and Neil Burrell (right) would not  have minded dropping a couple per cent from the score they achieved at the Picton heat. 50.03% earned them the wine they are holding, by a whole 0.01%.

Thanks to all who took part in this event which raised over $13,000 for the New Zealand Bridge Foundation. Note down the date for this event for next year, the evening of Friday November 15th 2024.
